New Family Onboarding - As part of our support to new families within the school district, we make every attempt to make personal contact with families within 4-6 weeks after enrollment. This is usually in the form of a call from Mr. Perry Harris, our Student & Family Engagement Liaison, who checks that things are coming along smoothly and to see if there is anything the school district can do to assist with the transition.
Restorative Interventions - As an educational institution, we understand the importance of learning along the way in every aspect of a child’s growth and development. We also understand that sometimes children make poor choices. We believe that understanding the impact of one’s choices, repairing relationships along with an appropriate punishment will optimize a child’s learning. We believe restorative interventions help educate children on the impact their choices have on others and provide them with the tools needed to “restore” relationships and better handle similar situations in the future.
Student Mentorship - At the request of the student, their family, teacher or administrator, we offer both one-on-one and group mentoring throughout the school district. Our Student & Family Engagement Liaison visits schools on a daily basis, facilitating our mentorship programs to assist students in making, building and sustaining positive peer-to-peer relationships and student-to-teacher relationships. This program also provides space for students to develop positive self-image and self-esteem. During these sessions there is also a focus on attendance, behavior and academics.
Community Engagement - We strive to hear the voice of our community. Throughout the year, we are intentional in engaging a variety of school community members. The opportunities provide firsthand updates regarding the happenings within our schools. We work to incorporate our students within these listening events as much as possible. Efforts are always made to continuously strengthen the delivery of services within our school district.
