Working to make certain that ALL student needs are met.
Perrysburg Schools believes that it is not only necessary but essential to partner with our families to further the academic and social-emotional development of our students. This involves the implementation of a variety of initiatives focused on their mental and emotional well-being that align with the most relevant research and applicable best practices.
School Counseling
Your child’s School Counselor is focused on delivering programming that is comprehensive in scope and developmental in nature. The School Counseling team throughout the school district provides learning opportunities for students in small group or classroom settings. School Counselors are also available to students on an individual basis when difficult situations arise, to celebrate successes, offer insight or advice or simply to be a source of mentorship.
To identify your child’s school counselor, please visit the appropriate school’s home page by clicking on the School tab at the top left area of this webpage.
Mental Health Counseling & Supports
At times, a child or family may need a level of mental health counseling that goes beyond what a School Counselor may provide. In those instances we would direct you towards local resources that other families have found useful. Please see the list below or contact your child’s School Counselor to have a discussion and determine the level of support.
Threat Assessment, Crisis Response & Intervention
Perrysburg Schools is a local leader with nearly 70 staff members throughout the school district who have been trained in an evidence-based model of Safety Assessment & Intervention (SAI). SAI is a “problem-solving approach to violence prevention that involves assessment and intervention with students who threaten violence in some way.” Each school has a well-rounded team of professionals who convene when needed to assess and determine the best course of action in working with students in distress or threatening violence. This framework, established in Perrysburg Schools in the 2016-2017 school year, has now been written into law in the State of Ohio and is mandated to be present in all schools by the start of the 2023-2024 school year.
The Pupil Services team plays an integral role in planning and operationalizing coordinated responses to crisis situations as they occur at the individual, school or district level. Within each school building and at the district level, Crisis Teams meet regularly to discuss happenings within the school district to determine appropriate intervention and modernize response procedures as the need arises.
