Football Game - Homecoming Court and Honoring Jim Leyland ’62

In addition to the traditional Homecoming Court ceremonies at the football game vs. Clay on Friday night, recent National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee and Perrysburg alumnus, Jim Leyland ’62, will be honored between the first and second quarter.

Mr. Leyland will be the special guest in the Perrysburg Schools Foundation & Alumni Association float in the Homecoming Festival Parade on Saturday morning. Many students and school groups will also be featured in the parade.

Please be sure to stop by the Perrysburg Schools booth downtown in the Perrysburg Chamber of Commerce’s marketplace area. The booth will have a raffle for Perrysburg Schools spirit items as well as information about the alumni association, senior citizen activity passes, theatre schedules and more.
Ceremony to Honor Jim Leyland

The community is invited to a special ceremony where local leaders will have the opportunity to honor Mr. Leyland’s accomplishments and connections to his hometown.
“We are very proud of our alumni and the long history of excellence that we have at Perrysburg Schools,” shared Thomas L. Hosler, Superintendent, Perrysburg Schools. “Jim Leyland is certainly a Yellow Jacket who exemplifies this and we are honored to have him come home to celebrate with us. Thank you to Mr. Leyland and everyone involved with this special weekend.”

Hull Prairie Intermediate School Teachers Marisa Ery, Ethan Jessing, and Mandie Pirolli will lead attendees through free “make and take” activities geared toward children in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade, including:
Wildflower Seed Bombs (5 minutes)
Paper Copters (5 minutes)
Bubble Wands (5-10 minutes)
Coming Home Concert
5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Commodore Schoolyard, 140 E. Indiana Ave.
The Third Annual Coming Home Concert will be held at the Commodore Schoolyard with entertainment by AmpWagon. The concert is free and open to the public, thanks to sponsors

Attendees are encouraged to RSVP so that organizers may plan appropriately. The classes of 1968, 1974, 1975, 1984, 1994, 1999, and 2004 will have special designated areas to celebrate their milestone years during the concert based on the number of RSVPs received for their class.
