Board of Education Selects Chris Anderson to Fill Vacant Board Seat

The Perrysburg Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Anderson to fill the vacant Board seat created by the resignation of Dr. Lori Reffert, effective April 1, 2025. Anderson was selected from a pool of 22 individuals who submitted applications, 20 of whom were interviewed following two applicant withdrawals. His appointment was approved during the Board’s regular meeting on Monday, April 21, 2025, and will run through December 31, 2025.

“This century, we’ve seen an average of eight applicants when filling a vacant seat on the Board, so we were both surprised and grateful to receive 22,” said Board President Susan Rowland Miller. “We are deeply appreciative of all the individuals who were willing to step up and seek a leadership role at such a challenging and crucial time for our school district.”

In accordance with Board policy, interviews were held with the remaining 20 candidates on the evenings of April 7, 8, and 14. The Board then met on April 15 to deliberate. All interviews and deliberations were conducted in executive session, as permitted by Ohio law for the appointment of a public official.

“Our decision was not an easy one,” Rowland Miller continued. “Every candidate was well-qualified, spoke honestly about the successes and challenges facing our school district, and offered thoughtful ideas about how we might move forward together. We were encouraged by the applicants’ shared dedication to Perrysburg Schools and their commitment to academic excellence and fostering stronger community support.”

“In our deliberations, we prioritized finding someone who could advocate for public education, engage meaningfully with the community, collaborate professionally with fellow Board members and district administrators, and bring strategic planning and fiscal expertise to the table.”

By unanimous decision, the Board invited Chris Anderson to accept the appointment. A resident of Perrysburg for 15 years, Anderson is the Chief Technology Officer at Ascensus Specialties. He brings extensive experience in leadership, financial management, and long-term strategic planning.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the Perrysburg community in this new role,” said Anderson. “I believe deeply in the value of public education and the importance of supporting students, educators, and families. I look forward to working collaboratively with the board, administration, and the community to ensure we continue to deliver a high-quality, student-centered education.”

The Board extends its sincere thanks to all applicants for their commitment to public service and their continued support of Perrysburg Schools.
