Perrysburg Yellow Jackets Summer Basketball Camp

Athletic

PHS Boys Basketball

Coach Dave Boyce

dboyce@perrysburgschools.net

Our camps will be structured to build from the very basic skills in the 1-4 camps; to more complex skills in the grades 5-6 camp; to a practice like setting for grades 7-8-9. More team concepts will be introduced as the players advance, while the younger players will learn more about the rules and set-up of the game. We will teach shooting form, ball handling, and passing, team play, rebounding techniques, defensive basics, and full-court play. Each of these fundamentals will be drilled daily and coached for reinforcement. Perhaps, as important, we will teach and stress proper court attitude - respecting referees, being a team player, handling missed shots and being a good winner. Each camper will get a chance to play a lot of basketball, learn about this great game and have lots of fun! Visit the Boys Basketball webpage on the Perrysburg Athletics website for registration forms & more information.

Tuesday April 16 | 6:00PM - 7:30PM

Gathering Volumes is pleased to welcome Julie Rubini to the store for a special reading and discussion of her latest book "Eye to Eye: Sports Journalist Christine Brennan" on Tuesday, April 16 at 6 pm.

About the Book: Christine Brennan, the USA TODAY sports columnist, author, and commentator, uses her voice to advocate for diversity and equality in the world of sports, and her wisdom to encourage future journalists. Her passion for sports was sparked by her dad, who encouraged her to participate in athletics and, as he said, “smell the game”—go watch baseball and football games together.

From knocking down barriers in NFL locker rooms to covering every Olympics since 1984 to being the go-to commentator whenever scandal occurs in the sports world, Christine Brennan has done it all. "Eye to Eye" invites young readers to learn more about this remarkable journalist and perhaps to nurture their own dreams of investigating and telling important stories.

About the Author: Julie K. Rubini is the founder of Claire’s Day, a children’s book festival in honor of her late daughter. She is the author of Hidden Ohio, Missing Millie Benson: The Secret Case of the Nancy Drew Ghostwriter and Journalist and Virginia Hamilton: America's Storyteller. But most of all, she cherishes her roles as wife to Brad and mother to daughter Kyle and son Ian.

Denise Phillips

Join us on Tuesday, April 9 to celebrate the newest book from Jeff Kinney, Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid. Introducing the newest Wimpy Kid author—Rowley Jefferson! Rowley’s best friend Greg Heffley has been chronicling his middle-school years in thirteen Diary of a Wimpy Kid journals . . . and counting. But it’s finally time for readers to hear directly from Rowley in a journal of his own. In Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid, Rowley writes about his experiences and agrees to play the role of biographer for Greg along the way. (After all, one day Greg will be rich and famous, and everyone will want to know his life’s story.) But Rowley is a poor choice for the job, and his “biography” of Greg is a hilarious mess.

We will be celebrating on the Release Day for Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid with a celebration including Wimpy Kid inspired snacks, Wimpy Kid Mad Libs, Wimpy Kid trivia, and of course books!
