Janey Krasula earns Shining Star Award

Janey KrasulaCongratulations to Janey Krasula, who has been named Perrysburg Schools’ Spring 2017 Shining Star Award Recipient. She is the Guidance Secretary at Perrysburg Junior High School. The award is presented only twice annually to an employee who is nominated by his/her colleagues as a Shining Star of our district. A panel representing a cross-section of the district chooses the award recipient from a pool of nominees. As co-sponsor of this award, The Griffioen Insurance Agency (part of IHT Insurance) recognized her with a gift at the May Board Meeting.

Janey Krasula’s colleagues submitted the following nominations:

Brent Swartzmiller, Principal
There are secretaries that are good at their job - efficient, team players who you know you can count on. There are individuals that are reliable and you just know that with all the other worries on your plate, they were not going to add to any unneeded stress. Janey embodies these qualities times a thousand. She is relentless in her pursuit to get things done and get things done well. Most impressively, Janey is always looking for the better way of doing things. She questions the status quo and helps create a more efficient and effective way of operating, thereby helping to make PJHS a better place. Schoology, PowerSchool, our registration process, student selection of classes, students leaving us, submitting final student grades, our state testing process . . . the list could go on and on. Janey takes the time to truly understand our process and systems, thereby often becoming our source of answers. Janey has left an undeniable mark on our school and is one of those once in a generation power houses that will always be remembered.

Don Christie, Assistant Principal
Janey is a person goes above and beyond her job responsibilities on a daily basis. Recently we had “Customer Service Top Ten” posters given to each one of us that included Appearance (first impressions), Attitude, Friendliness, Impression, Responsibility, Commitment, Team Thinking, Communication, Service, and Personal Excellence – you can put a checkmark by each one of these for Janey. She is truly a “Shining Star” at PJHS and also for the entire Perrysburg School district.

Dwight Fertig, Assistant Principal
Janey Krasula is what some people may call our "Statue of Liberty". She greets all families and students as they begin their academic career, here at Perrysburg Junior High School. She is the grease that makes the system run, and the welcoming voice for these families. She sets them up with their building information, including schedule, locker, technology accounts, and overall classroom locations. She walks families around the building when needed and inventories all of their necessary paperwork and records. Janey goes above and beyond to let them know that they are a part of a school system that will care for their child. She works tirelessly to help them feel special. Starting these new families off on the right foot is the foundation to building positive relations between home and school. Janey is one of those people that does not just complete a task until it is done, but until it is done, "right". She has been a wonderful asset to Perrysburg Schools, and to the overall Perrysburg Community. It would be interesting to know the number of families that began their academic journey in this building at her desk. I can only believe that it would be mind blowing.

Nicole Wagner , Guidance Counselor
Janey is AMAZING! She is often the first friendly face that our new students meet at PJH. From enrolling new students, to helping teachers with Schoology, to assisting crying students when when the counselors are with other students...she keeps our guidance office running smoothly! Janey anticipates what needs to be done and has tasks completed before we even think about them. She is always ten steps ahead! Our administrators, counselors, teachers, students and families are so grateful for Janey. She is simply the best!

Cindy Nutter, Dean of Students
Janey is an amazing employee! She works tirelessly to make sure the guidance office runs smoothly. She has a lot to do! And yet she is always friendly, polite, and helpful to any student, parent, or staff member that stops by her desk for assistance. I remember many occasions when Janey puts aside what she is doing and sits next to a student or parent and helps them with whatever they need. She is also the person that most often gives visiting families or new families to our district a tour. She does this in a very friendly and positive way. Her attention to detail is amazing and very valuable. She makes sure all student records are accurate. In fact, I can remember many times when she stayed late to make sure quarter grades for students were accurate before they were sent out to parents. Or when there were state testing responsibilities that she would check and recheck to make sure everything would run well on a given testing day. She makes us all look good! We are very lucky to have her here at the junior high! As a side note, she also makes the best desserts for staff birthdays!

Janey was a tremendous help to me as I transitioned to the junior high in multiple roles. Her knowledge and experience made the transition very seamless for me. Janey is an incredibly helpful and patient person. Most of the time, if I am going down to see Janey, it is because I don't understand something or I need help. She is always willing to take the time to walk me through whatever it is I'm struggling with step by step. She is so deserving of this award!

Kerry Stoots, Teacher
Janey is the best! She takes such good care of our staff- she is organized, patient, and very calm, even when dealing with stressful situations (like testing or grades!). She makes even the most frustrating things seem manageable, and she never hesitates to help a staff member or student. Janey has a quiet, gentle nature about her, and we are all certainly going to miss that!

Jackie Derr, Teacher
Hard worker, NEVER have I heard her complain when we've had syncing issues, testing, countless hours of work, etc. I don't think I've met anyone calmer than Janey. She'd be able to organize the entire country if need be!

Molly Butts, Teacher
She is always kind, patient, and understanding. Even if you are the 12th person to ask her the same question that day (which she explained in an email yesterday) she will kindly help you.
She is the welcoming face for new families who come to our school, giving them a tour, helping the student with their schedule and locker.
I have seen Janey here as late as 9pm in August, getting things ready to start the new school year.

Thank you for your consideration. Janey is retiring at the end of June. We are going to miss her very much.
