2020 Ohio All-Star Honor Orchestra

Congratulations to Perrysburg High School Orchestra students Johni Weidner (Violin) and Sam Zachel (Bass), who auditioned for and were accepted to perform in the 2020 Ohio All-Star Honor Orchestra. The Ohio All-Star Honor Orchestra is a collaborative partnership with Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music and The Community Arts School.

The Ohio All-Star Honor Orchestra is a competitive virtual orchestra consisting of the finest high school musicians throughout the State of Ohio. Students engage in lessons, masterclasses, lectures and workshops from internationally-renowned artists. The event will culminate in a professionally-produced virtual orchestra performance this January under the direction of Dr. Soo Han, Artistic Director and Orchestra Director at Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music.

“When I was first introduced to the Baldwin Wallace community last winter, I loved how connected the faculty was with their students,” shared sophomore violinist Johni Weidner. “With everything going on in the world right now, I think that Baldwin Wallace has really risen to the occasion to provide an online version of a yearly event that is important to so many musicians. Making music with others through a computer screen is not the ideal circumstance, but it is such an honor to work alongside musicians from all over the state, in addition to the wonderful faculty at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory, in a time where we are all so disconnected as a society.”

“The BW virtual camp has really opened my eyes to the world of music and has helped me grow not only as a musician but as a person,” shared sophomore bassist Sam Zachel. “I have had the opportunity to take a conducting class, which I look forward to practicing here with my fellow musicians. My experience at this camp will stick with me throughout my career as a musician and I am grateful to have had this experience. I feel truly honored having had the opportunity to learn from Dr. Han and the other musicians involved in the orchestra.”
