50-Mile Club preps Jr. High Students for Spring Sports

About 80 students and teachers are participating in the 50-Mile Club at Perrysburg Jr. High this year, where they run or walk 50 miles from early January through the end of February in preparation for spring sports or just to stay in shape. They will have an awards banquet this Friday after school to celebrate all the great work they did this season!

“We’re so happy to be able to offer a way for kids to stay active in the winter months!” stated Jim Mills, 50-Mile Club Director and Paraprofessional at Perrysburg Jr. High.

The club is sponsored by Second Sole of Perrysburg, which supplies the T-shirts, and All Star Trophy of Perrysburg, which supplies the medals. “Both of these companies provide these products at no charge,” stated Mills. “We are very grateful to them for their support.” The club also donated more than 300 cans of food this year to Perrysburg Christians United food pantry.

“We’re so lucky to have Jim on board here at the Jr. High,” stated Dale Wiltse, PJH Principal. “Not only is he an asset to our students in the classroom, but he also gives generously of his own time to contribute to the wellbeing of students and staff members alike by organizing this awesome club each year.”
