New Immunization Requirements

Attention Parents and Guardians of incoming 7th and 12th grade students for the 2016-2017 school year:

Beginning with the start of the 2016-2017 school year, all pupils entering 7th and 12th grade are required by the Ohio Department of Health to be vaccinated against meningococcal (serogroups A, C, W and Y) disease. One dose of the vaccine is required prior to entry into the 7th grade. A second dose of the vaccine is required prior to entry into the 12th grade. The second dose must be administered on or after the 16th birthday with at least eight weeks between the 1st and 2nd dose. If the first dose of meningococcal vaccine was administered after the 16th birthday, a second dose is not required.

As has been the mandate, all 7th graders are also required to have a Tdap vaccine prior to the start of school.

Please plan now, as these immunizations should be completed before the start of the 2016-17 school year. Documentation of having completed the immunization(s) must be supplied to the building nurse. State law requires that the school have a record of completed immunizations on file no later than two weeks after the start of the school year.

Immunizations may be obtained through the student’s personal physician, as well as some area pharmacies.

Questions may be directed to Debbie Reddick at the high school - 419-874-3181 ext. 5010, or Jodi Perales at the junior high - 419-874-9193 ext. 4011.
