Perrysburg High School will host a meeting for families throughout
the area who may be interested in hosting a foreign exchange student next year
or in the future on Tuesday, January 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the PHS Media Center
(13385 Roachton Road, Perrysburg). The event is free and open to the public.
Attendees do not need to live in Perrysburg School District.
The evening will feature a brief presentation from a
previous host parent and an opportunity to talk with representatives from local
foreign exchange organizations. This is the time of year when organizations may
select students to come to their region. This night is designed to provide attendees
with an opportunity to preview students who are coming to the U.S. to see if
there may be a fit with their family.
Host families accept a student into their home as a member
of their family. They provide meals and help him/her become an active part of the
family by getting involved in school, church or community clubs, sports and
activities. Throughout the school year, an exchange organization representative
would keep in contact with the host family and the student on a regular basis
to make sure any questions they have are answered and to provide perspective
from someone who has hosted in the past.
