COVID-19 Updates
We have a few COVID-19 updates and reminders that we would like to share:

COVID Support Communications
  • Email - Families and employees are asked to continue to report any diagnosis of COVID-19 and contact with individuals who are positive by emailing [email protected]. To help streamline the contact tracing process as much as possible, we continue to encourage families and employees to submit student/employee vaccination information to the school district by emailing an image of the immunization card to [email protected]
  • COVID Support Call Line - Perrysburg Schools’ COVID Support Call Line has reopened for those who prefer the phone to using the COVID Support email and will be open Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The phone number is 419-872-8802. Please direct COVID-related questions to this hotline or the COVID Support email rather than to the school buildings. One of the COVID Team members will follow up with you if they are unavailable when you call. Calls will be answered in the order in which they are received. Depending on the volume of calls, please expect a delay of 1-2 days.
  • Attendance Line - If you need to call in a student as ill and staying home for symptoms, please call the school’s attendance line just like with any other illness. When calling the attendance line, please indicate your child’s symptoms. If your child is experiencing two COVID-like symptoms OR loss of taste/smell, they will need a negative test or an alternative diagnosis from their doctor to return to school.

For example: Sherona has a cough and fever, so her dad calls the attendance line and keeps her home from school; she goes to the doctor the next day and receives a diagnosis of COVID-19 so her dad emails the COVID team; and when her dad has a question about her return-to-school date, he may email [email protected] or use the COVID Support Call Line.

Reminders
  • Families are asked to conduct a wellness check, including temperature check, prior to sending students to school each day.
  • Employees should assess themselves for symptoms before entering buildings, including temperature check at home.
  • Students or employees with body temperature of 100.0 or more should stay home until fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
  • Students or employees may request a school district-provided KN95 mask using the following link: https://forms.gle/zEvs5zYKA4iokzgM8.

Last week, the Wood County Health Department reported 332.53 cases per 100,000 residents. To put this in perspective, on July 26, Wood County had 11.5 cases per 100,000. The threshold to be considered “high transmission” is 100 per 100,000. In the 43551-zip code from August 8th to September 7th, there have been 26 cases of COVID-19 among children aged 5-11 years and 28 cases in children aged 12 to 18 years. In March 2021, for example, when the decision was made to move students to 4-days a week at PJHS and PHS, the 43551-zip code had 26-30 active cases for ALL ages. There is significant spread occurring in our area. The school district data for this past week included 19 positive cases and 124 student quarantines.

Though most fully vaccinated people who do test positive have very mild symptoms or are asymptomatic, fully vaccinated people currently account for approximately one in every five cases of COVID-19 in Wood County. As cases rise, the probability of encountering someone with the disease increases. Preventative measures are vital. Vaccines are available from several local providers. An updated list is available on WoodCountyHealth.org. Click on “Information on COVID-19 Vaccines.”

Please continue to maintain distance from those who do not live in your household, stay home when sick and test for COVID-19 if you may have it. Regularly wash hands, cover coughs and sneezes and maximize ventilation.

Thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding.
