Preschool One Week Delayed Start
Dear Preschool Families,

As many of you know, there has been a great deal of construction taking place around Union School. We were told that enough work around Union School would be completed by the start of this school year to safely travel to and from the school building. Despite the crew’s tremendous progress over the last few weeks, there continues to be a significant amount of construction work taking place near our preschool and in the surrounding area.

We feel at this time the school is unable to be accessed safely by families or buses given the ongoing construction. Therefore, after careful consideration, we have deemed it necessary to briefly delay the start of the Preschool school year by one week.

While pushing back the start of the school year is certainly not ideal, the school district does not feel comfortable with our youngest students and their families attempting to navigate the construction around Union as it currently stands.  Therefore, we are delaying Open House until Wednesday, August 23rd and Thursday, August 24th, followed by our first day of school taking place on Monday, August 28th.  This additional time should allow for further completion of the construction and increase the accessibility of the school and the safety of traffic flow.

Your child’s teacher will follow up with you to determine if your previously selected Open House time continues to be appropriate for your classroom visit. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
