Student Spotlight
Nanami Imada
3rd Grade
Frank Elementary School

girl smilingNanami Imada, 3rd grader at Frank Elementary School, recently came to the United States from Japan.“She embraces the Jacket Way each day,” shared Heather Rodriguez, 3rd Grade Teacher. “Nanami is dedicated to learning English and works hard each day to not only speak English but to show her knowledge of what we are learning. She works on learning to read and write in English at home as well as at school. She works hard to communicate verbally and in written form with the help of a translating program. This process is time consuming and she willingly does this all day long.

“At the end of the day, Nanami is still smiling and ready to learn more! In addition to attending Frank Elementary, Nanami attends Detroit Ringo Kai, the Japanese School of Detroit on Saturdays to continue her learning in Japanese. Nanami is a respectful friend to many, never letting her communication barriers stand in her way. She is ready for class each day, she responsibly completes all assignments written in English and goes the extra mile to ensure her work is completed neatly and accurately each time.

“Nanami is a wonderful member of our class and goes above and beyond each day to demonstrate the Jacket Way."

We are so proud of you, Nanami!
