Perrysburg Schools Spotlight – March 2023 Edition

Student Spotlight
Jaydon Whiting
Grade 7
Perrysburg Junior High School


young man smilingJaydon Whiting is a 7th grade student at PJHS who is representing the Jacket Way both in school and outside of school. Jaydon is an active member of the PJHS school community, participating in the PJHS Drama and Ping Pong Clubs. This past fall, Jaydon had a role in the PJHS Musical, Annie Jr.Currently, Jaydon is a member of the Golden Jackets Competitive Show Choir and recently was named the Most Outstanding Performer at their competition in Loveland, Ohio.

Outside of school, Jaydon has been active in the Birds Eye View Circus, located in Toledo. Through that, Jaydon has learned skills such as juggling and balancing that have seen him featured in local parades and area competitions. These skills recently took Jaydon to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club Talent Show located in Pennsylvania in February.

In addition, Jaydon utilizes his skills as a worker at Distracted Haunted House in Bowling Green.

“It’s always fun when students share what they are passionate about at school,” shared Jaydon’s English Language Arts Teacher, Miss Jennifer Scharer. “With Jaydon, we love it when he shares a story about a recent success. Students listen intently and are genuinely curious about the activities he’s involved in. In the end, we all learn something new about Jaydon and the activity he’s participating in. Jaydon is also always there to support his fellow Jackets at school events.”

We are so proud of you, Jaydon!

Mike Ward
Assistant Football Coach

man on field wearing headphonesThe Ohio High School Football Coaches Association has selected Perrysburg High School’s Assistant Football Coach Mike Ward as the 2022 Assistant Coach of the Year as announced by the National Federation of State High School Associations of Coaches Association! He was selected based upon his coaching performance for the 2022 season, lifetime community involvement, school involvement and philosophy of coaching.“Coach Ward is incredibly deserving of this honor,” shared Dirk Conner, PHS Head Football Coach. “He did a tremendous job of developing our defense, which returned only two starters, throughout the course of the season. We are incredibly blessed to have Coach Ward on our staff and congratulate him on this honor.”
