Perrysburg Schools Spotlight – October 2021 Edition

Marshall Cribbs
2nd Grade
Woodland Elementary School
 
student smiling in school photo Marshall is a second grader at Woodland Elementary. He absolutely loves school, especially math and music, which are his favorite subjects. Marshall is a proud big brother to his younger brother and newborn sister. Staff at Woodland describe Marshall as being kind, welcoming and very creative. He has a contagious laugh and always finds a way to make others smile. Everyone loves being around Marshall!
 
Marshall models the Jacket Way by showing kindness and respect to his classmates and teachers. He is always ready to learn with a positive attitude. Marshall is a hard worker and gives his best each day. In addition to being a leader for his peers, he models the Jacket Way for his brother Joey, who is attending Woodland as a kindergartener this school year. Marshall greets others on his way into school each morning with a smile. It sure helps start the day in a positive way!
 
Marshall enjoys spending time jumping on his trampoline. He also enjoys swimming, drawing, making crafts and playing the piano.

Employee Spotlight
Alana Sigg
School Counselor
Perrysburg High School
 
woman with dogAlana Sigg is a School Counselor at Perrysburg High School. She has had the opportunity to gain experience as an educator as well as a counselor in several different settings, including being an assessment evaluator for the Ohio Department of Education, PBIS coach, department head and volunteer swim coach.
 
“Mrs. Sigg has brought so much to our counseling team and the school as a whole. From providing new and innovative ways to document and illustrate our time to prepare us for National RAMP certification as a counseling department, to coordination with community stakeholders to provide important ancillary supports for our students, to initiating our therapy dog program at the high school,” Rick Rettig, PHS School Counseling Department Head, shared. “Her passion for the field and for helping kids is unsurpassed. Now, she is broadening her influence by becoming the new head swim coach. There is no doubt that she is one of the brightest stars on our staff. Our students are so fortunate to have Mrs. Sigg as a trusted confidant and supportive adult at the high school. We are all better from her influence.”
 
“Alana has a true passion for everything she does,” shared Aaron Cookson, PHS Principal. “Whether she's meeting with a group of students or individuals, walking the halls with PHS's current therapy dog, Techna, or leading a group of her colleagues, Mrs. Sigg always brings her A game. Additionally, Alana brings an abundance of positive energy to the school counseling department and to the school as a whole. Mrs. Sigg's students are fortunate to have such a hard-working, dedicated, caring and professional counselor who always advocates on their behalf.”
 
Mrs. Sigg enjoys biking with her family, movies and shows about aliens, bigfoot and any paranormal series on Netflix.
