Girls Golf Team Tournament and NLL Champions

The Perrysburg High School Girls Golf Team took their perfect 10-0 league record into the Northern Lakes League Championship at Eagles Landing in Oregon, Ohio and walked away tournament champions and NLL champions. Freshman Sydney Deal led the way for the Jackets as the medalist for the tournament shooting a 74. Sydney also was crowned Player of the Year, earning more points in league play throughout the season in combination with the points earned at the NLL Championship.

"Sydney is not only a remarkable young golfer, but an amazing young lady," said Rick Rettig, Girls Golf Coach. "When you have a young athlete who has such great ability, and with that her nature is so unassuming, it makes everyone else on the team excited to get in the van, get to the course and play great."

Senior Hannah Craig finished in fourth place for the tournament firing a round of 88. She finished in third place in the season standing and earned First Team NLL honors.

Seniors Kennedy Kersten, Maggie Mikolajewski and Daisy Schwind also brought home Third Team NLL honors for the day.

"Our team came into the tournament with great preparation," said Rettig. I think we were relaxed, confident and excited to play. We spent more time at Eagles Landing than any other team, and I think that preparation was a big factor in our team score today."

After one more non-league match against Oregon Clay, the Jackets will hit the tournament trail, traveling to Heatherdowns Country Club October 7th to play in the sectional championship.
