Student Spotlight
Will Erikson
First Grade
Fort Meigs Elementary School

Will Erikson smilingWill Erikson, first grader at Fort Meigs Elementary, exudes the Jacket Way! “He sets an amazing example for his peers – in the classroom, during lunch and even on the playground,” shared his teacher, Emily White. “Will can often be found digging, building or tearing it up on the soccer field outside. In the classroom, he thinks like a scientist! He is very detailed and precise with his work. He impresses me each and every day. Recently, Will earned a chance to do the morning announcements here at Fort Meigs. He has read up on some jokes to deliver to our students during his time on the mic! I am so proud to be Will's teacher. I know there will be amazing things in his future. Way to go, Will!”

“Will is just a fantastic, and very smart, young man,” shared Marjoe Cooper, Principal, Fort Meigs Elementary School. “He truly shows The Jacket Way every day and is a great friend to his peers. He is willing to help his friends have great days. He was recently recognized for his actions by our staff and was awarded a monthly Jacket Way award. I am so proud of Will and thoroughly enjoy having him as a student at Fort Meigs!”

We’re so proud of you, Will!

Employee Spotlight
Glen Brandt
Head Custodian
Woodland Elementary School

Glen Brandt smilingGlen Brandt, Head Custodian at Woodland Elementary School, embodies service to others and puts kids at the forefront of every decision that is made. He loves the students and connects with them, supporting their social and emotional health. He is a positive role model and “winning” an opportunity to assist Mr. Brandt is a coveted reward for many students throughout the school – he always finds a way to make sure each child feels special.

Glen has a positive can-do attitude and is always willing to help. He cares deeply about making sure Woodland Elementary School is clean and maintained in top-notch condition so that students and employees have the best possible environment to work and learn every day. He is proactive and takes great pride in his work.

“There is no job too big or too small for Glen to take on,” shared Michael C. Salwiesz, Ph.D., Principal, Woodland Elementary. “He is a shining example of what teamwork really means. Whenever there is discussion about how to handle something, Glen is always willing to go the extra mile.”

Some thoughts from the Woodland staff:
“Glen would do anything for any student or employee!”
“Glen is going to hate the attention because he’s so modest and just thinks it’s his job to do the best that he can every day.”
“He truly loves Woodland Elementary.”
“Regardless of what is asked of him, you’ll always hear him say, ‘I’m on it’ and that is closely followed by, ‘It’s all for the kids!’”
