Business Advisory Council

The Board of Education recognizes the importance of students entering the labor market with employable skills and attitudes. A Business Advisory Council has been established, primarily from commercial and industrial organizations operating within the school district, to provide recommendations concerning changes in the economy and job market, as well as provide suggestions for further developing relationships among businesses.

65% of secondary students are predicted to work in jobs that do not yet exist. This creates a major challenge for designing curriculum in education, training and retraining programs, as well as a critical need for accessible, flexible, lifelong learning resources. 75% of the companies expected to be listed on the S&P 500 in 2027 have yet to be established.

The questions the BAC is investigating include:
1. What skills are your company’s employees missing that you wish they had developed before they were hired?
2. What changes are you experiencing in the types of positions available or being created in your industry?
3. What emerging industries are you involved in or do you see coming?
4. What do high schools need to be doing today to prepare students for tomorrow?
5. What can the school district do in the short-term to make a difference for your business?
6. What capacity or interest is there in your company for job shadowing, mentorships or internships?

 

Michael Clark
4th Grade
Ft. Meigs Elementary School

Michael is in 4th grade in Mr. Edge's class. Outside of school, he participates in horseback riding, swimming and Special Olympics. He adores his therapy dog, Lilly.

“Michael is a very special boy, he is unique in every way and strives to be his best each day,” shared Danielle Koralewski, one of Michael’s teachers. “He has the best smile, laugh and personality. I am thankful to have him in my class, and he has taught me way more than he knows. He makes me a better teacher every day!”

Amanda Reisner
2nd Grade Teacher
Frank Elementary School

Amanda Reisner is a 2nd Grade Teacher at Frank Elementary School. She goes above and beyond to help her students be successful. She incorporates songs, dancing, music and singing into her teaching frequently. This helps the students learn the information in a creative, innovative and fun manner that helps ensure the students learn in a meaningful, practical and applicable way.

She uses her musical and theater background to help benefit Frank students. She has performed in past talent shows, sang the Star Spangled Banner for the Veterans’ Day Program and helped create numerous Jacket Way videos for the school.

Amanda Reisner is very creative and passionate about music and the arts. She performs outside of school and has recently performed in the following shows: The King and I, Hands on a Hardbody and An Evening of Musical Theater Cabaret.
