ASVAB• On Tuesday, April 10th, PHS will offer the student ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) to all 10th and 12th grade students who wish to participate.
• This is the same day as the SAT for juniors so there will be no regular classes on this day.
• The ASVAB is the first part of the ASVAB Career Exploration Program and is used to get a snapshot of current skills and abilities.
• The assessment will take approximately 3 hours and is a battery of 8 subtests designed to assess various aspects of school and career aptitudes.
• The test will begin at 8:30 a.m. and students will be dismissed from school for the day at the conclusion of the assessment.
• The scores obtained will be provided to school counselors to help formulate future plans. The score will have no effect on school grades.
• Although test results can be used to apply for military service, the vast majority of students use the program to plan for future careers involving a college education.

PHS will host Career Day on Friday, April 13, 2018. Freshmen and Sophomores will attend five different presentations at the high school given by our alumni, parents and community members. Students will be able to select sessions from a variety of careers.
Juniors and Seniors have three options for this day:
1. Set up a college visit or career shadow on their own.
2. Set up a service project on their own.
3. Bus trips to BGSU and UT will be provided for a limited number of students.
Proof of attendance must be provided no matter which option is selected.

Honors Diploma For the traditional diploma with honors, a senior student needs to attain 7 of the 8 criteria needed,
which are listed in the student handbook. There are three new options, and you may earn any or all four of them, which include: STEM Honors Diploma, Arts Honors Diploma and/or a Social Science and Civic Engagement Honors Diploma. For more information about this, please contact your school counselor.
Seniors - Scholarship LettersReminder to seniors - please bring in copies of ALL scholarship award notifications you have received (even from schools you are not planning to attend) to the Counseling office by Wednesday, April 25. These scholarships will be listed in the graduation program. Individual dollar amounts will not be listed but a grand total will be announced for the Class of 2018.
Decision Day
May 1 is the nationally recognized date most seniors must inform colleges of their plans to enroll. This year we will be celebrating our seniors’ next steps on Friday, May 4. On this day, we ask seniors to wear a T-shirt from the college they are planning to attend. If a senior is not planning to go directly to college after high school, they are encouraged to wear a shirt from their favorite college sports team. Seniors are then invited down to the Media Center during their lunch period for a FREE lunch. So get your college T-shirt ready and we will see you there!
