Perrysburg High School presents “The Winter One Acts”
Perrysburg High School sizzles with its latest production — The Winter One Acts: How To Kiss A Girl, Booby Trap and Director’s Nightmare. This production provides a unique experience for both actors and viewers as the audience is seated on the stage. This evening of intimate theatre features a selection of one-act plays ranging from comedy to drama. Perrysburg's One Acts have received eight Superior ratings at the Ohio Theatre Alliance play festival.

How To Kiss A Girl — When young Ken Beardsley gets ready for his very first date, he decides to download audio advice from across the centuries in order to impress his high school crush, Steph. However, the date quickly spirals out of control as he tries to simultaneously follow dating tips from a communist-fearing nationalist from the ‘50s, a swashbuckling pirate, a sweet southern belle and a puritanical pilgrim. Poor Ken realizes that if he really wants to win Steph’s heart, he’ll need to tune out his smartphone and tune in to his own instincts before it is too late.
Booby Trap — An American soldier is frozen into a sitting position leaning against a tree stump. He cannot move as there is a land mine, which is hidden under the bark of the stump as a booby trap, which will explode if he does. As the soldier sits there hoping for help, visions from his past, present and future life unfold around him.
Director’s Nightmare — It is five days before the premiere of the non-musical version of Les Miserables, and high school drama director, Chris, has actors who are still on script, cast members absent from rehearsal, a sick stage manager, an unbuilt set and only twelve dollars left in the budget. It’s a director’s nightmare, but Chris tells the cast and crew about a pocket watch from her great-grandfather that is known to help turn everything around. As the rehearsal progresses, it seems as if even the watch cannot fix this mess. Dante keeps alternating between a French, British and Southern accent; Gina decides to pretend to be a door; Lily begins to speak for the baby doll; and Ed, the set designer, brings on a volleyball net and tells Chris to think of it as the barricade. Will the nightmare ever end?
