Face Covering Requirements - Clarifications
Dear Elementary Families,

Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to launch our school year amid so many unknowns and changing circumstances. We would like to provide some clarifications on our face covering requirements:

  • According to the latest order from the Governor’s office, masks must be worn during outdoor recess if social distancing of six feet cannot be maintained at all times. Therefore, students will need to wear masks during recess, but please know each elementary school will have areas set up and clearly marked where children are able to take mask breaks during recess. If they choose, they may spend their entire recess in these areas.

  • All students in Kindergarten through 12th grade are required to wear an approved face covering all day. The face shields that will be provided to K-4 are only permitted by the Governor’s orders to be used in lieu of an approved face covering under very specific circumstances (outlined in our full face covering requirements document here: https://tinyurl.com/PburgSchoolsMaskRequirements). There will be times throughout the day when mask breaks can be taken with appropriate social distancing as directed by a teacher or administrator.

We continue to implement changes to our operations and share clarifications as research emerges, questions are asked and rules change. We wish to thank you for your patience and adaptability.

Sincerely,
