Plans Moving Forward – Timeline Adjustments
Dear Families and Employees,

I hope this message finds you and your family healthy. As you know, community spread of COVID-19 has increased. Over the last three weeks, active cases in Perrysburg’s zip code 43551 have increased by 65%. Perrysburg is now leading Wood County in active cases. Pandemic-related staffing shortages as well as the high number of students out on quarantine have forced us to move to remote learning in several instances now, and the surges happening as a result of Thanksgiving continue.

At this morning’s meeting, the Board of Education finalized the following timeline adjustments to our school district’s plans moving forward. When students are scheduled to return from full remote learning on Tuesday, December 8, 2020:

  • Grades 5-12 will remain on full remote learning to finish the semester.
  • Elementary Schools will resume the 4-day, in-person hybrid schedule.
  • Preschool will resume the 2-day, in-person alternating hybrid schedule.

Elementary and Preschool incidents of COVID-19 have remained relatively low. We will continue to evaluate community and school district data throughout the semester.

The second semester will begin on January 5, 2021. Whether students will return to remote or face-to-face learning will be determined at the Monday, December 14, 2020 Board of Education meeting.

We regret the inconveniences these changes will likely create for many families. We are tasked with making decisions like this between two options that are both undesirable. We appreciate your ongoing partnership as we continue to band together and fight this pandemic. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns, and we will continue to do our best to give you as much notice as possible when changes have to take place.

Peace,
Tom H.
