Program Spotlight
Jacket Band
Perrysburg Junior High School

Jacket Band MembersJacket Band is a Perrysburg Junior High School performing ensemble that showcases the talents of students from all ability levels and experience.

7th and 8th grade beginners, “veteran” musicians, students with special needs and peer mentors work together with band directors and paraprofessionals to provide an inclusive band experience for students. This year, 31 students meet daily during second period for this experience.

“I am proud of the growth our Jacket Band has already accomplished this year,” shared Jason Jordan, Band Director - Hull Prairie Intermediate School and Perrysburg Jr. High School. “Our students have truly supported each other in this non-traditional band environment. We are thankful for the support of the PJHS administration in helping us create this inclusive experience that allows all of our band members to reach their potential!”

Tyler FortainTyler Fortain, fourth grade student at Frank Elementary School, is an extremely hard worker in class and always kind to others.

“Tyler is a strong member of Frank’s Buddy Bees program,” shared teacher Mrs. Carrie Butler. “This is an after school commitment that focuses on creating and maintaining friendships through play-based activities. Tyler is a quiet yet powerful leader in this program, as he is a role model to all of the members.”

“Tyler is known to be honest and kind,” shared teacher Mrs. Brooke Schulte. “The others can and will look to Tyler for direction in each activity. Tyler includes others very easily. He has a way of helping others and allowing them to be part of his group in such a gentle way. Tyler is always conscious of whose turn it is, and of making sure everyone is treated fairly. I also see these same qualities carry over into the classroom each and every day. We all count on Tyler as one of our best buddies!”
