Kathleen Schnerer earns OSTA New Teacher of the Year Award
Kathleen Schnerer, Perrysburg Schools Orchestra Director, has been awarded the 2019-2020 Ohio String Teachers Association (OSTA) New Teacher of the Year Award. This honor is awarded to one teacher per year who is in their first to fifth year of teaching.
Her colleague, Patrick Barrett, former Orchestra Director, Perrysburg Junior High and Hull Prairie Intermediate, nominated her.
"It is a joy to teach alongside Kathleen,” shared her colleague, Betsy Cranston, Orchestra Director, Perrysburg Junior High and Hull Prairie Intermediate. “She has such a passion for teaching strings and is able to make even the most mundane technique practice an exciting adventure. Her students adore her and she cares deeply for not only their musical growth but also their development as people. To see this combination of skillful pedagogy and a contagious love of music in such a young teacher is truly inspiring!"
