Perrysburg Schools Superintendent wins Martha Holden Jennings Ohio Superintendent Outstanding Performance Award
Each year the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation recognizes and rewards a group of Ohio’s most effective educators by presenting several individuals with top educator awards. The honors are bestowed at the Foundation’s annual Educators Retreat. Mr. Thomas L. Hosler, Perrysburg Schools Superintendent was named the 2018 Martha Holden Jennings Ohio Superintendent Outstanding Performance Award Recipient.
The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation provides a $10,000 award payable to the school district in the winner of the Ohio Superintendent Outstanding Performance Award superintendent's name. Candidates must have five years of experience as an Ohio Superintendent of Schools and must have served in his or her current position for at least two years. The candidate must have a Master’s Degree and appropriate certification by the State of Ohio. All candidates must be nominated by their School Board President. A representative committee of educators selected the superintendent to be honored. He was recognized as the Ohio award winner at the Foundation’s annual Educators Retreat.
“I am very blessed to work for a Board of Education that believes in our staff and me and to work with some of the most dedicated and caring professionals that I have experienced in my 18 years as a superintendent,” Mr. Hosler shared. “I am so very excited about what this grant means to the Perrysburg High School Philanthropy Club. Let’s think for a moment of all the foundations and philanthropic organizations that touch our students’ lives and work to improve our communities. As we prepare students to be college and career ready, what are we doing to ensure that the next generation of foundation executive directors, board members, fundraisers and donors are there to continue to make a difference in our communities?"
The $10,000 grant will be used for a deep learning experience through Perrysburg High School Philanthropy Club. The club provides students with an understanding and appreciation of philanthropy, including a grant-making lab. The Lisa Stocking Gruver ’95 Memorial Fund established the grant lab to promote philanthropic and community leadership in Perrysburg in a way that recognized her commitment to serve others and be a leader in her community.
PHS Philanthropy Club will give every dollar of the Martha Holden Jennings Superintendent Award away through the grant lab and, by doing so, they will continue to learn the power that giving has to change lives.
