Program Spotlight
Full Experience Fund

PSF & CQ CommUNITY logosPerrysburg Schools is pleased to announce our Full Experience Fund is now available for donations as well as student applications. Each year, there are hundreds of families in Perrysburg facing financial hardship. As a result, many students do not have the means to participate in the experiences that are such a large part of what it means to be a Yellow Jacket, from lunch and camp fees to purchasing yearbooks or spirit wear and attending prom. With that in mind, the Perrysburg Schools Foundation, in partnership with the CQ CommUNITY, has created the Full Experience Fund.

“We are excited to support our students and families in this way, and help to ensure all students have a full experience at Perrysburg Schools!” shared Sara Stockwell, Ed.S., Director of Student Services and Well-Being, Perrysburg Schools.

Families may request support through the Full Experience Fund by contacting their child’s classroom teacher, school counselor or principal. For more information, please visit perrysburgschools.net and click on Full Experience Fund under the Info tab.

Student Spotlight
Dylan Raike – 3rd Grade – Toth Elementary School
Austin Raike – 5th Grade – Hull Prairie Intermediate School

Dylan and Austin RaikeBrothers Dylan and Austin Raike started a bake sale in 2017 after a hurricane hit the United States and news travelled of the deaths and how it left so many homeless. Their parents talked to the boys about doing something local to help some of our very own community members. The Raike Family picked Family House, a shelter in Toledo that helps keep families together during times of crisis and homelessness.

The boys then mentioned it to their Grandma, who is an awesome baker, and the family decided to have a bake sale. Most of the baking is done by Dylan’s and Austin’s Grandmother and she donates all the goodies. They have also been given donations from other family members.

Their first bake sale was in September 2017 and the boys raised $350 ($200 was used to purchase supplies from Family House’s wish list and a $150 monetary donation was given). Last year the boys wanted to do it again, and ended up raising $500 ($200 in supplies and $300 monetary donation).

The family never imagined the response that they would receive. Mrs. Raike has had many of their neighbors offer to donate goodies this year and they are looking to extend their outreach efforts to helping families in the Perrysburg Community.

Dylan and Austin help with setting up the bake sales and making signs to advertise them. They also help stock the tables and help their mom get the supplies, and last year they delivered the supplies with their mom. Mrs. Raike shared how very proud she is of the boys, and is thankful for the learning experience that this has provided to them. She is completely humbled by both of her sons, as she shared: “The fact that my boys’ kindness caused others to be kind is humbling.”

We’re so proud of you, Dylan and Austin!

Employee Spotlight
Lindsay Czech
College Counselor
Perrysburg High School

Lindsay CzechLindsay Czech serves as College Counselor at Perrysburg High School. She helps guide students through their college application process: fostering the college visitation process, helping them use college application software, encouraging individual guidance meetings with her, creating and implementing informative presentations during Wednesday enrichment, writing over 50 letters of recommendation each year and helping students apply for college and scholarships.

“Many times, Lindsay chooses to give up her lunch period to accommodate the schedule of the 400+ seniors with whom she meets,” shared Amy Farrar, English Teacher, Perrysburg High School. “Lindsay also supports teachers, sending emails and putting aside time to meet with teachers individually to help them work through the letter-writing process for recommendations, advising us all how to write the most effective letters possible to help our students’ hard work and abilities shine.”

She creates a special College Decision Day celebration at the end of each school year, which includes students going into the workplace or enlisting in the military. She enlists the support of local patrons who provide lunch for all seniors and their teachers. She highlights teacher and staff member support for students and their college choices by encouraging all employees to wear a shirt from their alma mater. She also provides thank you cards for seniors to spend their lunch writing notes of appreciation to teachers and staff members who have been influential throughout their Perrysburg education, including teachers they may have had back as far as kindergarten.

“Lindsay Czech’s dedication to her students compels her to call down individual students to her office as her continual research of local, specific college and national scholarships enables her to inform students of scholarship opportunities that relate to them because she knows her students well: their career-aspirations, their top college choices and their activities and passions,” shared Amy Farrar.

She also is trained as a Link Leader to help with PHS’s freshman Link Crew Orientation program and served on the school district Portrait of a Graduate committee. She is actively involved in the Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling (OACAC) and has served as a presenter and panel member at their conferences. Mrs. Czech is also a Perrysburg High School alumna.
