Historic Perrysburg Art Exhibition now on display at Way Public Library
The 8th Annual Perrysburg High School Historic Perrysburg Art Exhibition is now on display at the Way Public Library Gallery, 101 E. Indiana Ave. in Perrysburg. It is designed to provide a window into the connection between local history and art education. This is the third exhibit in a three-part Education Series by PRIZM Creative Community, which highlights the work of community programs in the area of art education. Sponsorship for the 2nd and 3rd Exhibit in the Educational Series is provided by PNC Bank.

Approximately 50 pieces prepared by the students of Lynne Barefoot, Candra Boggs and Michelle Brunner, all practicing artists, from Perrysburg High School will be available for viewing until Friday, April 28 in the downstairs gallery during normal business hours.

The Perrysburg High School “Historic Perrysburg Art Exhibition” includes works of art in multiple medias such as pencil drawings, acrylic and watercolor paintings and photographs of historic Perrysburg. Students were required to research and study Perrysburg’s architecture and landmarks before creating an artwork inspired by local history. Perrysburg students annually work with the organization Historic Perrysburg, Inc., a volunteer historic preservation organization whose goals are to safeguard the remarkable structures located within Perrysburg’s Historic District. The organization helps students to take in interest in local history and architectural preservation while developing their artistic skills by sponsoring a painting and photography contest with the students. Additional information on this organization is available at www.historicperrysburg.org.
