“Willow is a caring and responsible student who consistently models what it means to demonstrate the Jacket Way: respectful, responsible and ready. She serves as a peer tutor and helps her classmates; she is also always ready to help her teachers, too. Her abilities to show what it means to be a Perrysburg Yellow Jacket extends to her life outside of the classroom as well. She spreads joy and her positive attitude by volunteering in the greater Toledo community with her family. Willow brightens our day each time she steps foot into the classroom. HPI is lucky to have her!”

One of Willow’s recent volunteer projects, along with her family and about 40 volunteers, involved packing almost 300 backpacks full of food, drinks, toiletries and more. The group went to downtown Toledo and gave out the backpacks, listened to live music and ate stew with the individuals picking up the backpacks. It was called “Music and Stew.”

Ashley Mundrick, Math Teacher at Perrysburg Junior High School is always working to support, encourage and motivate students and is very student-centered. Mrs. Mundrick does a great job problem-solving and brainstorming ways to help students to be successful. She is able to identify a concern, develop a plan to address it and then successfully implement the plan.

 

PJHS Principal Don Christie shared: “PJHS is lucky to have a caring and dedicated teacher like Mrs. Mundrick. Each day she works hard to meet the needs of her students. Mrs. Mundrick is a great resource for students, families and colleagues.”

 

Mrs. Mundrick has successfully implemented a co-teaching/inclusion model for math with co-teacher Doug Pevoar. She incorporates technology such as Edulastic and NearPod into her instruction. She is eager to continue learning herself as well and is currently working on completing her Master's Degree. She also serves as a member of the PJHS Jacket Way Committee.

 

Mrs. Mundrick lives on a farm with four children, one with health concerns, and she feels like this has helped her develop into the quality teacher that she is today who is able to understand student needs and the perspective of the parent.
