Jacket Gymnasts Senior Day

The Jacket Gymnasts held their Senior Day when they hosted The Noah Ninja's Destroying Duchene, All Around Meet at the Perrysburg YMCA Gymnastics Center. The gymnastics team started hosting this meet last year to bring awareness to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a disease that assistant coach Mykel Zwayer’s son, Noah, has. Duchenne is a progressive muscle wasting disorder. It is caused by a genetic mutation that prevents the body from producing dystrophin, a protein that muscles need to work properly. Without dystrophin, muscle cells become damaged and weaken. Over time, children with Duchenne lose their ability to walk and their arm function also decreases. Currently there is no cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

The Varsity Jacket Gymnasts Team took 1st place with a 141.15, followed by Northview in 2nd with a 123.60, 3rd was Patrick Henry with a 117.90 and 4th was Eastwood with a 95.90.

Other gymnasts competing as individuals representing their schools were from Ontario, Elgin, Ridgedale, Lexington, Defiance and Ashland.
