The Perrysburg Junior High School Golden Jackets Show Choir traveled to Chicago March 1-3 to compete at John Hersey High School’s Chicagoland Showcase in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Groups were judged on vocals, choreography and overall performance. The Golden Jackets won Grand Champions, Best Vocals, Best Choreography and Hope Smith won Best Overall Female Soloist.

The PJHS Golden Jackets Show Choir is in its fourth year as a competitive show choir. The group is comprised of 37 seventh and eighth graders from the PJHS Choral Program. Their competition set is entitled “There's No Business Like Show Business.” Musical selections include “My Shot,” “Million Dreams” and “Greatest Show.”

Students also took part in a special backstage tour, where they were able to sing in the same theater as Frank Sinatra. Students also had the opportunity to go to Navy Pier, the Shedd Aquarium, John Hancock Observation Deck, the Museum of Science and Industry and more.

The group is directed by Katie Kuhlman and Joel Hamilton and choreographed by Elise Hanson.
