Girls XC wins NLL Championship

The Perrysburg High School Girls Cross-Country Team captured their 4th NLL title in the last six years on Saturday, October 13. Conditions were near perfect with cool temperatures and a fast course.

The varsity team was in a battle with several quality teams and found a way to out run Anthony Wayne and Northview. Through the 2-mile mark, the race was dead even with the Generals from Anthony Wayne, but a last mile surge allowed the Yellow Jackets to secure an eight-point victory. The final scores were as follows: Perrysburg 34, Anthony Wayne 42, Northview 53, Napoleon 123, Southview 131, Bowling Green 146, Springfield 216 and Maumee 238.

The team was led by the first-place finish of freshman Aubrey Duhaime in a stellar time of 19:15. Aubrey took control of the race early and cruised to a 28-second victory. Jesse Menke (19:59) finished fourth overall and Ariana Gladieux (20:15) finished sixth. Both student-athletes earned first team All NLL honors. Freshman Hailey Lambdin (20:31) finished 9th overall and Haley Beier (20:48) was 14th. These efforts earned both of them 2nd team All NLL. Eva Rando, with a time of 21:04, finished 19th overall and captured a spot on the 3rd team All NLL. Rounding out the scoring and running a gutsy race for the Jackets was Emma Francis (21:38).

The Jacket harriers won the JV race in dominating fashion. Five of the top six runners were hometown girls and the total score of 17 points was within 2 points of completely shutting out the rest of the NLL. Ellen St. Mary (21:28) took control of the race around the mile mark and never looked back, winning the individual title. The runner up spot went to Megan Adams (21:42) and 3rd place was taken by Maia Colon (21:57). Finishing 5th overall was Cameron Prindle (22:04) and right on her heels was Avery Bohman (22:05) in 6th place. The time gap of only 37 seconds between Perrysburg’s top 5 runners produced a tight pack that could not be penetrated by any other team in the league.

The other Jacket performances were as follows: Butler (22:40), Michalak (23:00), Duhaime (23:51), Pachell (24:08), Carter (24:28), Schwegler (24:52), Dolliver (25:00), Owsley (25:02), Clark (25:11), LaMere (25:46), Shim (25:58), Adams, J. (26:31), Dalton (26:32), Mora (26:32), Arny (26:33), Maronn (26:33), Keller (26:43), Keeton, Arabella (26:55), Stringfellow (27:05), Osier (27:09), Bohney (27:10), Keeton, Annika (27:14), Rudebock (28:21) and Harris (28:26).
