Kim Wiley earns Perrysburg Schools Shining Star Award

Congratulations to Kim Wiley, who has been named Perrysburg Schools’ Fall 2017 Shining Star Award Recipient. She is a 4th Grade Teacher at Ft. Meigs Elementary School. The award is presented twice annually to an employee who is nominated by his/her colleagues as a Shining Star of our school district. A panel representing a cross-section of the district chooses the award recipient from a pool of nominees. The Griffioen Insurance Agency also recognized her with a gift certificate at the November Board of Education Meeting.

Kim Wiley’s colleagues submitted the following nominations:

When I was a new teacher last year Kim really took me under her wing. She was constantly checking in with me, making sure I understood things, and was so easy to talk to. Kim took the role of team leader very graciously. She was a life savor!

Kim also really cares for her kids. You can see her in the hallway talking with them and creating connections. She does a great job getting to know them. Kim is a great teacher!

Kim's love of teaching is seen in her day to day interaction with all of her students. She strives to be creative and innovative providing an environment that is enriching...her students walk away from her room feeling that they can take risks and conquer the world!

Her love of the teaching profession not only is extended to her students but to the staff around her. She does an incredible job providing that same creativity and support for her peers, always having a positive perspective and offering whatever is needed.

Kim is well deserving of the recognition of shining star. She is that shining star for so many people!

Kim is one of those teachers that is always giving of herself. She gives her time, talents, ideas, knowledge, and leadership on a daily basis to not only her students but her colleagues. I have watched Kim work so hard over the years to complete her Master's degree while never skipping a beat and is constantly finding ways to grow in knowledge and never being complacent. She finds ways to connect with students and to show them she cares by having meaningful conversations, showing up and participating in events like "Girls on the Run." Kim is always on the ball and is a great leader. She was chosen from our 4th grade team to be on BLT and is great collaborating and communicating. She is one of those people that if you have a question you know she will have the answer or will go out of her way to find the answer. I am so lucky to teach and learn from Kim and she inspires me on a daily basis to be the best person and teacher I can be.

Kim Wiley stands out as a leader. She is a team player and always looks out for her peers. She sincerely cares for her students, even as they move on in their educational lives. She constantly seeks opportunities to grow professionally. She wants to give her students the best. From my daughter's perspective (a former student), "She's funny and makes learning fun." As a fellow teacher, parent and friend, Kim is deserving of being recognized for her leadership, heart and dedication to our students.
