Student Laptop Pickup Dates

Dear Parents and Guardians of Students Entering Grades 5-12,

Perrysburg Schools is continuing its one-to-one technology program this school year, where all students in grades 5-12 are issued a laptop for use in class and to take home each night with payment of the yearly take-home assessment. For students who have not already been issued a device, there will be pickup windows on Tuesday, August 1 and Tuesday, August 8 at the Perrysburg High School media center to the following 2017-18 classes:

  • 5th Grade (11” Lenovo Chromebooks)
  • 9th Grade (11” MacBook Airs)
  • Any student new to the district in grade 6, 7, 8, 10, 11 or 12

All parents/guardians of students who are picking up a device will need to be present to sign for their student’s device. You may come during either pickup window: Tuesday, August 1 or Tuesday, August 8 from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Perrysburg High School media center. Parents/guardians should plan on being there for about 20-30 minutes. Students will be required to provide a case to protect their device. A recommended case will be offered for sale at the device pickup event for approximately $30.

Students are responsible for the device they are issued. Each student must pay a $25 assessment per Chromebook or $50 assessment per MacBook Air for the student to be able to take the device home. For the MacBooks, the $50 annual assessment will enable the student to keep the device at the end of four years as described in the Laptop Guidelines and Agreements document that is posted on our district web site. In the event of financial hardship, information regarding an installment plan for the assessment will be available at the device pickup days. Cash, check or credit card will be accepted. Checks may be made payable to Perrysburg Schools.

The district provides standard warranty coverage and a very limited, named-peril coverage program (as described in the Laptop Guidelines and Agreements document), which involves a $75 deductible per occurrence for Chromebooks and $150 deductible per occurrence for MacBooks. Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact your homeowner’s insurance carrier and request that the computer be added to your policy as well.

If you have questions about the device pickup, please feel free to email the technology department at [email protected].

Sincerely,
Brent Shafer
Technology Director
