Understanding PowerSchool and Schoology

Dear Families,

Welcome back! Following please find information about two tools available to parents and guardians – PowerSchool and Schoology. These two systems have different purposes that supplement each other.

Preschool - Grade 4

For students in Preschool through Grade 4, parents and guardians only need to access PowerSchool once a year for returning student registration. An email is sent out when it is time to register at the end of the school year.

Parents and guardians of students in grades PS-4 do not need to access Schoology at all, since the program is tied to our laptop program in grades 5-12. Grades 1-4 use Progress Binders and all information regarding progress is contained in the binders.

Grades 5 - 12

Parents and guardians of students in grades 5-12 also log in to PowerSchool to update their information during returning student registration. An email is sent out when it is time to register at the end of the school year.

Schoology is used for grades 5-12 only. Following please find some bullet points about what each system offers parents and guardians of students in grades 5-12 that we hope you find helpful.

PowerSchool:

  • Current course grade
  • Quarter and Semester Grades
  • GPA
  • Schedules
Schoology:
  • Homework assignments
  • Upcoming tests/quizzes
  • Resources for the course
  • Updates from teachers
  • Class discussions
  • Assignments done during the class
  • Communication with Teacher
Parents and guardians of all 5th grade students and any students new to the district this school year will receive an email during the evening on Wednesday, August 16 containing a student code and instructions needed to create accounts. Please contact me if you do not receive the message.

We are looking forward to another great year! Go Jackets!

Peace,
