Teaching Professions Students give Gifts to Foster Children

Teaching Professions Students with Gifts

Perrysburg High School students in our Satellite Penta Career Center Teaching Professions program wrapped up a year of gift-giving with presents for 20 foster children through Lucas County Children Services. In December, they purchased gifts for the children through their Spirit Wear sale. In April, the Ohio Lions Foundation awarded them the James T. and Betty Coffey Scholarship. With this scholarship, the students were able to purchase additional gifts in the spring for the children. They also provided an encouraging message for each child.

Sherry Dunn (Recruitment and Public Information Specialist) through Lucas County Children Services came into the Teaching Professions class to explain the responsibilities educators have as mandated reporters. She also shared with the students the different types and signs of child abuse.

The class was also recognized at the Family Career and Community Leaders of America State Leadership Conference for this ongoing project. They took third place in the National Programs Award for Leadership in Service Action.
