Walk Up WeekHull Prairie Intermediate School
Hull Prairie Intermediate School held Walk Up Week at the end of the school year. The goal was to create a spirit week to focus on kindness, making a difference in the school community and continuing to build the school community. The central theme was encouraging students to “walk up” and reach out to their peers, making sure everyone feels included.
Three 6th graders organized the event: Jack Bowe, Paige Riney and Carly Williamson. The students, in response to the recent tragedy in Florida, approached the school leadership asking for permission to so something to help make a difference and this event was the result of their creative thinking and planning.
Staff and administrators at HPI, Assistant Superintendent Kadee Anstadt, Development Director Jeff Abke and the Perrysburg Schools Foundation (PSF) Board all helped support the students in their vision for Walk Up Week.
After the three students presented at a PSF Board Meeting, the organization agreed to purchase wristbands for all HPI students and staff. The spirit week also included: each student wearing their HPI T-shirt, a team sports day, dress as your favorite book/ movie/ TV character, wearing all of the colors of HPI (blue, orange, red and green) day along with Kindness Club organizing a “Mix It Up” lunch.
Supportive videos were provided to the student body by alumnus and professional baseball player Burke Badenhop, Mayor Tom Mackin and Madi Russell – alumna and daughter of owners of Big Daddy Graphics, which donated three shirts for Jack, Paige and Carly because they were so inspired by what the students were doing.
“These students are true agents of change and I know they made a difference while at HPI and will continue to make a difference for their community and others around them,” shared Chris Harper, HPI School Counselor. “These students will be doing some incredible things! I was honored to with work with them on this project and look forward to seeing what they do in the future.”

Hailey Lambdin
Hailey Lambdin recently was awarded the Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award at the 8th Grade Graduation Recognition Ceremony. The Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award is given annually to student-athletes who excel both in skill and sportsmanship for their team.
Hailey participated in both Cross Country and Track and Field while at Perrysburg Junior High School. Hailey was recognized as a leader on both teams. Sean Murray, Head Girls Cross Country and Track Coach said Hailey is: “an athlete who not only demonstrates the drive and desire to improve as a runner, but who goes above and beyond to demonstrate what it means to show good sportsmanship on and off the course.”
In addition, Hailey has been an active member in the PJHS Winter Running Club and the summer River Runners program. “Hailey happily jumped at the chance to do whatever she could to support her team. She took great pride and enthusiasm in warming up the team and competing. Hailey would always ask if there was anything she could help me with and take on additional responsibilities to help the team,” added Coach Murray.

Cathie FranceTeacherPerrysburg Preschool
Cathie France has been serving Perrysburg Preschool students for the past four years. She holds both bachelors and masters degrees in education.
“Cathie is passionate about early childhood education,” shared Kristin VanCuren Koester, Ed.S., Preschool Coordinator/ Itinerant Teacher. “She is always willing to go the extra step to support the preschool in being the best it can be, such as going to the hospital to visit students who are ill.”
She creates a classroom environment and atmosphere that is extremely engaging, homey and educational. Co-worker Andrea Hieber, whose son is in “Miss Cathie’s” class, shared: “Cathie is very thoughtful, kind and creative. She has brought the best out of my son.”
Ms. France is the mother of five boys and one grandson. She is currently participating in training to become a Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteer. CASA is a national association that provides advocates for abused or neglected children with the goal of providing them with a safe and healthy environment in permanent homes.
