Chinese Program

group photo of trip attendeesA group of Perrysburg High School students travelled to China this summer for an educational visit. Besides traveling tours, school communication was a highlight of the trip. Our students were warmly welcomed by the two top local middle schools in Hunan Province, the hometown of Can Tang, Chinese Teacher at Perrysburg High School and Perrysburg Junior High School.

Our students attended cultural classes and activities in these schools, and communicated with Chinese middle school students to better understand what education in China looks like.

“This trip experience demonstrates what great opportunities we provide to our students at PHS, and also shows our school’s international connection,” shared Ms. Tang.

The trip was 12 days and was designed to provide the students who are in the Chinese program a chance to immerse themselves in the native culture, and to connect what they have learned with real life. The group of 26 included teacher chaperones: Chinese Teacher - Cuiyu Zhang and Social Studies Teacher - Teresa Camp.

Connie Gauthier
Head of Cafeteria
Perrysburg Junior High School

Connie Gauthier“Connie Gauthier strives to create a positive environment in the cafeteria for students and staff members,” shared Don Christie, Principal, Perrysburg Jr. High School. “She continually goes above and beyond expectations by making soups, salads and sandwiches that are healthy and excellent to eat. This past school year, she identified a need for students involved in after school activities to be able to have something to eat after school and created ‘grab and go’ food bags. The junior high is very fortunate to have person like Connie Gauthier operating the cafeteria!”

“Connie is a team player who cares about each and every student,” shared Jackie Derr, PJHS STEM Teacher. “I have never seen her without a smile and caring attitude to make PJHS great – from helping students begin their day with a good breakfast, gaining student input on lunch menus and the new ‘grab and go’ food bags. She is constantly thinking of ways to improve our cafeteria to better serve students and employees.”
