Jill Morse receives Shining Star Award

We are honored to present our first Shining Star Award to Jill Morse, who works as a paraprofessional at Perrysburg Jr. High. The award, which began this school year, is sponsored by Griffioen Agency and is presented twice annually to an employee who is nominated by his/her colleagues as a Shining Star of our district. A panel representing a cross-section of the district chose the award recipient from the pool of 40 nominations.

Her nomination stated:
“Mrs. Morse has had an amazing tenure as a member of the Perrysburg Junior High Staff. I had the pleasure of working with Jill for the past two years from a district level perspective, and now from the building perspective. Her high level of compassion and advocacy for the students that she works with as a para-professional has been recognized at many different levels. Her professional peers understand her willingness to fit within a team and be a resource for the entire building. She routinely steps to the forefront to help with general tasks, building logistics and whatever is necessary to help the students in our building thrive in a positive academic environment. She understands the importance of bringing all students together, regardless of their typical and diverse needs. Mrs. Morse helps to include all students in the overall "Junior High Experience." This may entail escorting kids to Sporting Events after school, Making Spirit Signs and establishing peer and friendship groups within the school. She makes the building a better place for both students and adults. Her enthusiasm is infectious. I personally have been approached at the district level by outside community members about Mrs. Morse and how positive and impactful she is with all whom she encounters. She is a supportive and encouraging member of the community, and a powerful ambassador for not only her student population, but also the type of person that we all should strive to become. The Perrysburg Community, and the Perrysburg School District, is fortunate that Mrs. Morse is a part of our daily mission.”
