Zysik & Warne selected as Academic All-Americans

US Lacrosse selected two Perrysburg High School senior varsity lacrosse players as Academic All-Americans from the Ohio Northern Coast Region. The Ohio Northern Coast Region was allowed to select ten lacrosse players to represent their region on the Academic All-American list and out of over eighty applicants, Gabby Zysik and Rachel Warne were chosen to receive this impressive honor.

In order to receive this distinction, one must sustain a high cumulative GPA, make significant contributions to both their school and community and be an ambassador for the game of lacrosse. According to the regional selection committee, both Zysik and Warne are exceptional individuals whose leadership qualities and impact on their community stood out to the panel.

Gabby Zysik has been a four-year varsity lacrosse player for the Yellow Jackets, along with competing in soccer, cross country and swimming during her time at PHS. Academically, she has been named to the Honor Roll all four years and earned a certificate of Magna Cum Laude. In the last four years, Zysik has volunteered her time promoting the game of lacrosse at the PHS Youth Lacrosse Camp, where she served as a mentor and coach. Furthermore, she volunteers at the South Suburban Animal Shelter and gives back to the community through various Student Council and National Honor Society activities.

Rachel Warne has been a three-year varsity lacrosse player for the Yellow Jackets, along with competing four years on the cross country team. In addition to athletics, she also plays the cello in the PHS orchestra, where she has been a section leader for the past two years. Academically, she has been named to the Honor Roll and earned Summa Cum Laude all four years at PHS, along with being selected as a National Merit and AP Scholar. Rachel has made an impact in the community through volunteering in the orchestra's POMP program and participating in various National Honor Society activities.
