Local, County, State and Federal mandates continue to tighten the purse strings in our school district. Perrysburg Schools continue to look for ways to educate students through researched programs at a cost that will fall within the budget established by the Board of Education.
About the Community
People move to Perrysburg for the schools. It is an excellent place in which to live and work.
Perrysburg is a charming community with a small city atmosphere. Located in northwestern Ohio in northern Wood County, Perrysburg residents benefit from the advantages offered by the nearby City of Toledo (such as nationally recognized parks, zoo and art museum) and the pleasures of living in a beautiful, rural, historic setting.
The City of Perrysburg has a population of about 19,000. It is situated on the south shore of the Maumee River 10 miles south of Toledo. Surrounding the city is Perrysburg Township, which adds approximately 14,300 people to the area’s population.
Living in Perrysburg means being able to enjoy not only the nearby Maumee River, but also the Great Lakes region and all the recreational opportunities Lake Erie affords.
The area offers good restaurants, entertainment opportunities and a variety of shopping experiences. Detroit is only an hour away; Cleveland and Columbus, two hours.
Bowling Green State University, The University of Toledo, Owens Community College, Lourdes College, and Heidelberg College (Arrowhead Park) are very close by and allow for a highly educated populous.
Owens-Illinois (a Fortune 500 company) recently set up its World Headquarters in Perrysburg, just west of the newly developed Levis Commons area.
Challenges
Because of continued growth, Perrysburg Schools must continue to find ways to communicate our story to everyone and work with community partnerships such as Fort Meigs YMCA, Way Public Library, Chamber of Commerce, Service Clubs, Prevention Partners, Perrysburg Heights Community Association and parent organizations. The district’s Strategic Plan is in place and Perrysburg Schools continues to meet the goals and objectives of that plan.
Summary
Perrysburg residents are proud of their community and their schools. This is evident in the physical upkeep of the city and the township, the willingness to work cooperatively on projects and the strong sense of volunteerism that pervades the Perrysburg community and its schools.
