TESTING PROGRAM

PERRYSBURG HIGH SCHOOL TESTING SECURITY PROCEDURES
Ninth and Twelfth Grade Proficiency Testing
Except for the publication called "Practice Test," the ninth and twelfth grade proficiency test, including any and all material developed for use in any test form, are secure materials. It is unethical and illegal to use any such secure materials to prepare students for the tests or to assist students who have failed the tests. It is unethical and illegal to reproduce any of this material or cause it to be reproduced. No secured material from any test will be released to students, to the media, to parents or other community members, or to any other individual or group. Only the district test coordinator and the building test coordinators shall have access to any secured materials prior to the scheduled testing time. The test examiners and proctors shall have access to the secured materials only during a reasonable time prior to and after the scheduled testing time. Any alleged test security violation will be investigated by the building test coordinator, the district test coordinator, private investigation services, and/ or state and local law enforcement agencies, and after appropriate procedures are followed could result in one or more of the following actions:
1. Students' answer sheets may not be scored
2. Termination of employment for the employee responsible
3. Suspension of the certificate of the responsible employee
4. Prosecution under the state criminal code
All security conditions required by the State Department of Education shall be strictly followed by all coordinators, examiners and proctors. The district testing coordinator shall receive all testing materials shipped to the district, and shall immediately examine the shipment making note any unusual circumstances. The district coordinator shall distribute all testing materials to the building coordinators in consecutive serial number order. He/She shall maintain a file of signed receipts (see appendix 30) from each building coordinator that notes the serial numbers and quantity of each secure item received.
The Building Coordinator shall maintain all secured materials in a secure location until he/she distributes the material for use. He/she shall instruct all examiners and proctors as to the procedure to be followed for test security and test administration. He/She shall maintain a file of receipts from each examiner that notes the quantity and serial numbers of materials received. The arrangements to collect all materials as soon as possible after testing are to be made prior to leaving secured test materials. The materials collected after testing are to be checked prior to leaving the examiner to be sure there are no discrepancies and both the examiner and the building coordinator shall sign that all materials were accounted for. All secured materials are to be returned to locked storage.
On Friday of the testing week the district coordinator shall pick up all completed answer documents and ship them to the scoring coordinator according the instructions supplied by the State Department of Education. By Saturday following the 15 calendar day make-up testing period the district coordinator shall pick up all remaining answer documents and ship the to the scoring coordinator. All remaining testing materials will be collected, accounted for and returned to the scoring coordinator as instructed.
American College Test (A.C.T.)
- Is given at the High School on the testing dates established by the testing company. Either the A.C.T. or the S.A.T. is normally a part of most college entrance requirements. The scores along with other information are used by the university to predict success in college. It is a three hour examination consisting of four parts: English composition, Mathematics, Reading, and Social Studies. The A.C.T. is used by most State and Midwest Universities.
Scholastic Aptitude Test (S.A.T.)
- Is given at area testing sights on testing dates established by the testing company. The S.A.T. is used primarily by Private and Eastern Universities as a part of the entrance requirements. The three hour examination consists of two sections: Verbal, and Mathematical.
Preliminary American College Test (P.L.A.N.)
- Is given at the High School in the fall to sophomores. It provides the student with information about how they will do on the A.C.T., gives him/her practice for the A.C.T., as well as providing information about post high school planning.
Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test -
Is given in the fall to Sophomores and Juniors to provide practice for
and information on how well the student will do on the S.A.T. The scores
on the P.S.A.T. are used to qualify students for the National Merit Scholarship
program.
