STUDENT TEACHERS
To be considered for a student teacher, you must have taught in the Perrysburg School District for a minimum of three (3) years and be recommended by both your department chairperson and the principal. There are no guarantees that you will receive a student teacher since much depends upon the availability from the various universities and colleges.
TIME LINE FOR STUDENT TEACHERS
Student teachers are to work gradually into the program. They should begin by observing and becoming familiar with the teacher handbook, student handbook, student names, the building, and procedures. The student teacher should take over one class at a time as the cooperating teacher feels they are ready. By the end of the student teaching experience the student teacher should be planning and teaching a nearly full teaching day. There may be a particular class that the cooperating teacher does not feel is appropriate for a student teacher. This should be discussed with the student teacher, but is at the desecration of the teacher.
